Mother’s Day is my favorite day of the year. Not because we usually do something big and fancy… but because it’s the one day my kids know they need to step up and show me the love. And they do.
Over the years I’ve cherished their sweet handmade cards, freshly picked flowers, misshaped pancakes, home-made gifts, and some store bought gifts too. Each year my boys ask me what I want, and my answer is always the same. “I’d like a thoughtful homemade card, I’d like for you to plan all of the meals, and I’d like to spend the whole day with you (having teens, this is a BIG ask!)”
Sometimes they buy me gifts, so I’ve compiled a list of things I’d love to receive on Mother’s Day from some of my favorite small, ethical and women-owned businesses.
Disclosure: Some companies listed below provided products to review. All opinions are my own.
This beautiful packaging sets the tone for the most beautiful gift. The luxurious body oil is light yet nourishing, to give parched skin exactly what it deserves. It soaks in immediately without leaving a greasy mess, and feels like such a treat.
The rose scent is light and fresh, and the nourishing organic oils leaves skin hydrated and glowing. Lollia Always in Rose Dry Body Oil is luxurious in texture, scent and color.
I adore ‘truffle’ anything, but I especially love truffle oil. I use it as a finishing oil on salads, pasta, pizza, popcorn… really anything I want to spruce up to taste decadent. I was thrilled to find the first all-natural truffle oil ever produced in the United States by this small family-owned business.
It’s made entirely from wild Oregon white truffles, contains no chemicals of any kind, and is harvested personally by award winning cookbook author, Jack Czarnecki.
I’m trying to use more sustainable products for our family. I love the old school classic wayfarer shape of these Bamboo Wooden Sunglasses. Since they are made of 100% bamboo, each pair is unique, super lightweight, environmentally friendly AND durable.
Bamboo is one of the most unique and fastest-growing plants and considered one of the most eco-friendly resources on the planet. Beyond EcoFriendly has found some of the best eco friendly products around and have them all in one place on their website, making it easy to shop with a purpose ❤️.
I love to take my treasured memories and display them on these beautiful acrylic blocks. These custom photo acrylic blocks are uniquely modern and sophisticated, to perfectly compliment your home and office décor.
Erin Condren has an ongoing commitment to supporting social justice by partnering with amazing artists on various collections, to amplify their voices and showcase their inspiring art.
This deep conditioner is one of my favorite brands. I do a mini deep conditioning weekly. It detangles my curly hair easily and makes it easy to get any knots out, leaving me with a restored healthy shine.
Original Sprout is a women-owned business offering a complete collection of soothing shampoos, conditioners, styling and body care products for the entire family. All products are produced and packaged in California and formulated without any irritants such as parabens and phthalates.
As a busy mom, I’m always running from place to place. I love watches, and this beautiful modern black on black Thumm & Co watch is the perfect every day piece.
The sapphire crystal is beautiful and also scratch-resistant, and this classic timepiece is both durable and practical. Thümm & Co is a small family-owned women’s and men’s watches brand that builds watches to look great AND to last. Also, a nice part of their service is they will engrave all their watches for free as part of their service.
My wardrobe is definitely more focused on comfort these days. JulesLosAngeles has gorgeous pieces that are PERFECT to dress up in heels, or dress down in flip flops. The heavy weight micro modal fabric allows this Tiffany jumpsuit to simply flow from your body.
This is definitely a splurge, but this is a piece you’ll have in your wardrobe forever. The best part is this line is proudly made in Los Angeles by a women-owned small business.
Baths are a great way to unwind after a long day, release muscle tension, and devote some time to yourself. Simon Wolff is a woman-owned luxury bath boutique and they have nailed the self-care market.
Their CBD-infused Bath Ba-Bombs are the ultimate luxury and the perfect way to wind down and recharge. Adding CBD bath bombs into your wellness routine, will help you benefit from the stress-relieving and tension-reducing properties of a regular bath, plus the added advantages from the CBD extract. And no… you won’t fail your drug test or get high… Simon Wolff Bath Ba-Bombs contain 60.666 mg of pure CBD and 0.0% THC.
I don’t see a hairdresser often right now due to the pandemic, so I need to upgrade my hair game. This Kitsch Ceramic Round Blow Dry Brush perfectly creates a smooth and bouncy blowout.
The ceramic barrel is super light and is easy to maneuver (even for my awkward hands) and helps reduce heat damage by staying warm & directing less heat on the hair. KITSCH is proud to be recognized as a self-financed, woman-owned brand, built on positivity and pure hard work.
These candles from this family owned small business are simply stunning. Each candle is packaged in a 8oz mason jar (that burns for 40 hours) and named after a California city, which even includes the coordinates and candle fragrance notes.
Aside from the amazing variety of fragrances, the candles are non-toxic, made from soy wax, and have a natural paper wick. The matchbook under the lid is a fun surprise too! I especially love the floral gardenia and tuberose scents in “CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA” and “PACIFICA”.
Let’s face it, this year has been hard… and I love this reminder that mental health and self love is important now more than ever. This hoodie is so cozy and soft and I love the positivity it makes me feel and hopefully others who see it.
