Why The Amsterdam by Viadora is Condesa’s Best Kept Secret

Mexico City is huge, and choosing the right area and the right accommodations can feel overwhelming. The Amsterdam by Viadora is a luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of La Condesa that offers luxury one and two-bedroom suites. After doing extensive research on the different neighborhoods, I opted to make Roma and Condesa the home base for our family. Both districts are centrally located, walkable to other districts in Mexico City, and are known for their tree-lined streets, eclectic architecture, trendy restaurants, and cool arts scene. Staying at the luxury Amsterdam hotel by Viadora allowed our family to be together in a comfortable, home-like setting. This hotel offers suites with more space, amenities, and privacy compared to separate hotel rooms – making it a more convenient and cost-effective option.

The Amsterdam by Viadora: Luxury Plus Apartments

The Amsterdam Luxury Plus is a boutique hotel featuring apartment suites and is located in the heart of Condesa, one of Mexico City’s most vibrant neighborhoods. This luxury hotel is situated on a lovely tree-lined street (Amsterdam) next to Parque Mexico in the Hippodromo area. The large 2-bedroom suites are like living in a huge apartment, and they are the perfect blend of comfort, style, and convenience.

The minute we stepped into the shiny lobby with its sparkling marble floors and impressive staircase, and received that welcome tequila shot (which let’s be honest, definitely gets the vacay vibe going!) I knew we were going to be happy. Each apartment oozes luxury and comfort, from the roomy layout and chic decor, to the top-notch amenities thoughtfully curated to make guests feel extra special.

There’s nothing I love more when I’m traveling than slipping into crisp white cotton linens on a comfy bed, and thick spa-like towels. The Amsterdam Luxury Plus Suites by Viadora thoughtfully designed each detail to make our stay truly memorable.

La Condesa – a Prime Location in Mexico City

La Condesa is one of Mexico City’s most stylish and quiet neighborhoods, known for the peaceful parks, art deco architecture, and lively street scene. It’s jam-packed with trendy cafes, art galleries, restaurants, and shops, and gave us plenty to explore right on our doorstep.

The nightlife felt safe and cultured, and I was perfectly comfortable letting the boys out on their own in this district. The central location of The Amsterdam by Viadora also makes it super convenient to access other parts of the city, either by public transportation or just wandering around. It’s also directly across from a Walmart so it’s easy to pick up water, drinks, snacks etc. for the room. With a full-size kitchen, large refrigerator and dishwasher, we could have prepared a full meal for 12!

The Amsterdam Luxury Plus Apartments: Amenities and Services

The Amsterdam’s amenities during our stay were top-notch, and it’s clear that Viadora knows how to make life easier for families. Here are a few standouts:

  • The internet was fast and reliable (a blessing if you’re traveling with kids who can’t live without Wi-Fi or for work if you’re there on business).
  • The spotless fitness center is state-of-the-art, with friendly staff ready to help.

  • The rooftop terrace became our little haven after a long day of exploring. It’s filled with comfy furniture and they even serve complimentary breakfast from 8 am to 10 am, with fresh fruit, pastries, coffee, and tea. What a treat!

  • Though we didn’t use the on-site laundry, it’s a godsend for anyone traveling with little ones or on longer business trips.

Staying at The Amsterdam boutique suites gave us the chance to truly embrace the local vibe of the neighborhood. We’d walk to the local restaurants and cafes and simply people-watch while soaking in the buzz of daily life. The best way to really get the local feel is by walking. We spent hours wandering through the local markets, unwinding in Parque México, and lingering over food at one of the many restaurants. We were truly able to experience Condesa’s unique charm firsthand.

Luxury Apartments vs Luxury Hotels

With four of us, staying in a luxury apartment instead of multiple hotel rooms for family and group trips definitely has its perks. Here’s why I’d recommend The Amsterdam Luxury Plus for families visiting Mexico City.

  • More Space: Apartments typically offer more room with separate bedrooms, a living area, and sometimes a dining space. The privacy and comfort give even the closest families a little breathing room to recharge from each other.
  • Cost-Effective: Booking an apartment is often less expensive than multiple hotel rooms, especially for bigger families.
  • Kitchen Facilities: With a kitchen, you can whip up some home-cooked meals to save on restaurant bills or bring food in. And let’s not forget the treat of having a bottle of wine or a cold beer on hand for a nightcap.

  • Home Comforts: Apartments often have homely amenities like washing machines and fitness centers, which are great for longer stays.
  • Family Bonding: An apartment keeps the family together in one shared space and is perfect for creating family memories. We watched ‘Spectre’ one night after visiting the Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico in Centro Histórico and enjoyed seeing the very streets we walked earlier. These are moments that matter to me and I am acutely aware that I need to cherish these times.

Top 5 Things to Do and See In the Condesa District, Mexico City

Parque México

Take a leisurely walk through Parque México, the heart of Condesa. This beautiful park is located across the street from The Amsterdam by Viadora and it’s great to visit any time of day. We walked through in the morning and saw group workout classes and locals walking their dogs. And, one evening as we strolled through on the way home from dinner, we stumbled upon a ballroom dancing group who were swaying to classics in the warm evening. The pathways, ponds, and fountains are a lovely retreat from the buzz of the city.
