Brunch in Manhattan Beach Is Back at Love & Salt

Love & Salt is bringing weekend brunch back to Manhattan Beach, and locals are very happy. This downtown favorite sits right on Manhattan Beach Boulevard, just a few blocks from the pier, with a perfect mix of delicious food and beachy vibes in the most beautiful space.

Served every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the menu feels exactly like Love & Salt; Italian-inspired, California fresh, and full of dishes that are perfect for sharing. It’s a lovely brunch spot to take friends, family, or anyone visiting Manhattan Beach.

A Little Love & Salt Family History

Before Love & Salt opened, this same Manhattan Beach space was Café Pierre, a longtime local restaurant opened by Guy Gabriele in 1977. For nearly 40 years, Café Pierre was part of the community and was a local favorite for family dinners, celebrations, and special occasions.

In 2014, Guy and his daughter Sylvie Gabriele closed Café Pierre and reopened the space as Love & Salt. The name comes from a simple idea: great food only needs two things: love and salt. Today, Love & Salt continues the Gabriele family’s restaurant legacy with fresh California-Italian food in the same downtown Manhattan Beach location. The restaurant is family-owned, with Sylvie Gabriele, Sara Gabriele, and Adam Aro leading the next chapter.

Brunch in Manhattan Beach Is Finally Back

Brunch at Love & Salt was on pause for several years, so its return feels especially exciting for longtime local customers and anyone who loves a great weekend brunch in Manhattan Beach.

The room is airy and pretty, the location couldn’t be better, and literally everything on the menu looks delicious. You’ll want to try it all, so definitely order a few extras for the table. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

As Sara Gabriele, restaurant partner, shared: “We are so excited that brunch is back at Love & Salt. Our brunch menu focuses on classics with twists that bring together our heart and soul in both Italy and California. Summer is here, and nothing goes better with summer than brunch and bubbles!”

Hard to disagree with that.

What to Order for Brunch in Manhattan Beach at Love and Salt

Start with the Bombolini di Gabriele. These are warm Italian doughnuts filled with lemon curd or whipped Nutella, and they are named after the Gabriele family. They are what you order “for the table” and then secretly wish you’d ordered more.

The Chilaquiles are a favorite. They come with two sunny-side-up organic Chino Valley eggs, serrano salsa verde, tortilla chips, crème fraîche, cilantro, and pickled peppers. Savory, a little spicy, and a perfect brunch dish if you don’t want something too sweet.

A few other menu standouts include the Biscuits & Calabrian Gravy with ’nduja sausage gravy, the Bellwether Farms B.A.P., and the very over-the-top Five Egg Breakfast Sandwich.

There is also a Wood Oven Egg White Frittata with feta, farmers market vegetables, heirloom tomatoes, and sourdough toast, plus a classic Beach Breakfast with eggs, sourdough toast, and duck-fat-fried potatoes.

If sweet is more your jam (pardon the pun!) you must try the Brioche French Toast. With crispy orange-spiced brioche, market berries, Vermont maple syrup, and lemon buttercream, it feels like comfort-food, breakfast, and dessert all at once. Definitely a treat

Of course, there are plenty of fun brunchy cocktails, including my favorite kind: the coffee ones. Because let’s face it, sometimes you want the caffeine and the cocktail.

Basically, come hungry.

Make It a Manhattan Beach Day

The best part is that Love & Salt is right in the middle of downtown Manhattan Beach, just a short walk from the pier. So go for brunch, order the bombolini, have a coffee or a glass of bubbles, and then make a day of it. Walk down to the pier, pop into the shops, put your feet in the sand, or just wander around downtown Manhattan Beach.

It’s such an easy, happy way to start a weekend morning.
